Mōrena everyone, this weeks feature is all about Tetra Paks, a packaging product I’m sure most of us are familiar with. Tetra Paks are made from LPB (Liquid Paper Board) which is 5 different layers of material:

  • 1 x Paper Layer
  • 1 x Aluminium (please note in the video I accidentally said cardboard – sorry!)
  • 3 x plastic layers

This type of hybrid packaging material which would take extreme effort to separate, can’t be processed by recyclers in NZ (as of right now) despite announcements in 2019 that a solution was coming.

The conversation around this product is ongoing and I look forward to keeping you updated!
